This year, Lexus will be participating at the 24 Hours of Spa for the very first time. The team will be fielding 2 RC F GT3 cars in one of the toughest races in the Blancpain GT Series championship. At the same time, Lexus is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of their F' line of performance vehicles. In order to mark the occasion for both events, the luxury automaker has revealed a special LFA art car.
Lexus commissioned Portugese artist Pedro Henriques to create the LFA art car, which will be present at the upcoming 24 Hours of Spa. The LFA art car is finished in white but is painted with a subtle black swirling pattern which is said to express movement.
“My inspiration for this livery was the idea of fluidity present in the contemporary life, where things are in constant movement and it’s hard to freeze anything, Pedro explains. The lines in the drawings follow this feeling of going everywhere and never stopping; a progressive life. I wanted to reach an organic feeling by using handmade material and liquid lines in the elements spread through the car. By doing this I hope to express a feeling where the car becomes a less defined shape, in constant mutation in its movement,” said Henriques.
The LFA art car appears to be the rarer and more hardcore Nurburgring edition judging by the extra carbon fiber bits and fixed rear wing. It is powered by a 4.8-liter V10 which some say is one of the best sounding engines ever produced. Only 500 units were built when production stopped back in 2012.
Catch the LFA Art Car as it joins the on-track parade before the start of the 24 hour race. The 24 Hours of Spa will be held July 26 to July 28.
