The Lotus Exige is now available with even more power under the hood. Called the Exige Sport 380, the sports car now doles out nearly 400 PS and is now lighter than any other Exige models on sale.
It still packs the familiar 3.5-liter V6 derived from Toyota but it now gets several upgrades. The new supercharger pulley, fuel pump, tweaked engine management system and new exhaust system bumped the power to 380 PS. Torque, on the other hand is rated at 410 Nm of torque. This equates to an increase of 30 PS and 10 Nm of torque from the standard models.
Transferring power to the rear wheels can be done with either a 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic with forged aluminum paddle shifters. 0 – 97 km/h comes in at 3.5 seconds while top is at 286 km/h. The onboard Dynamic Performance Management System has two driving modes, Sport and Race that can adjust throttle response and traction control.
As far as the exterior is concerned, the Exige Sport 380 has been kitted with a more aerodynamic bodykit that is also lightweight. According to Lotus, the car now just weights in at 1,110 kg, 26.3 kg less than standard models. Not only did the new aerokit reduce overall weight, it also allowed Lotus to lower the car's center of gravity and deliver sharper handling.
Lotus even threw in several weight saving extras like the optional titanium exhaust and carbon roof panel and tailgate. When fitted, it reduces curb weight by up to 10 kg. Equipped as standard however are the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires that measure 215/45/ZR17 at the front and 265/35/ZR18 at the back.
