Honda has just introduced the S660 Concept Edition which commemorates the Japan launch of the standard S660. Limited to only 660 examples, the special edition kei car will feature a unique exterior paint and a revised interior that is distinct for the limited-run mid-engine road car.
Finished in Premium Star White Pearl, the front end carries Honda's current design language with the sleek headlight and grill while the side features a character line that runs the entire length of the S660. Also apparent on the exterior of the Concept Edition is the Bordeaux Red soft-top and the two-tone black & white side mirrors that both provide contrast to the white pearl paint.
Interestingly, Honda also applied a layer of special coating on the body and windows called 'Ultra Glass Coating NEO' wherein the automaker claims repels water.
Inside, the seats are upholstered differently as the driver's side features a light gray color while the passenger side is wrapped in a dark gray palette. Red stitching accentuates the cabin and can be seen on the seats, leather steering wheel and on the gear shifter (for manual variants). Cementing the car's reputation as a limited edition model is a numbered plate that can be seen on the center console
Powering the special edition S660 will be a turbocharged 0.6-liter (660cc) inline-three engine that produces 64 PS. The powerplant can be mated to either a standard 6-speed manual or onto a 7-speed CVT that comes with paddle shifters. Honda added that the mid-engine S660 has a weight distribution of 45:55 along with a low center of gravity that will make the car fun to maneuver around.
A host of driver aids and safety features also come standard on the new S660 which include: front and side airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist, Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal System. Available as an option is the City Brake Active System which provides automatic safe braking distance at speeds less than 30 km/h.
The standard S660 along with the Concept Edition will only be sold in Japan.
