Mitsubishi appears to be quite busy testing out their soon-to-be-released 2019 Strada. Remember when we spotted last week what appears to be a camouflaged Strada wearing the new Dynamic Shield face? Well, it was spotted once again over in Australia by a reader of Robert Pepper, albeit with slightly less camouflage. With it, we get to see a more detailed look on heavily refreshed Strada.
Like the pictures that we saw last week, the 2019 Strada now gets an X-Shaped grill reminiscent of the Montero Sport. The thin headlights, along with the distinct front grill give the pickup a more modern and cohesive appearance that blends with the Strada's updated look. Beyond those, the pickup also appeared to have borrowed some styling cues from the Xpander MPV thanks to the stylish front bumper and huge foglights.
All in all, it looks like the upcoming Strada facelift will carry Mitsubishi's 'corporate' design dubbed 'Dynamic Shield'.
Also curious to see on the camouflaged pickup is that it appears to have an updated bed design. While the 2019 Strada still has the signature 'J-Line' that splits between the cab from the bed, the bed itself now looks taller and longer than before. Thanks to this design revision, the Strada could come with better loading capacity than its predecessor.
We are also not entirely sure what Mitsubishi did to the Strada's taillights but we're expecting that it also received minor design changes.
Updates on its powertrain could be minimal as the 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo-diesel is currently seeing use in both the Strada and Montero Sport. However, the upcoming Strada update could come with an eight-speed automatic transmission option as the current version only comes with either a five-speed / six-speed manual or five-speed automatic.
Expect the 2019 Mitsubishi Strada refresh to make its official debut some time this year.
