Undisguised 2024 BMW 5 Series was supposedly spotted
It won't be long until BMW reveals the all-new 5 Series. In fact, the company recently revealed new details and photos of the next-generation executive sedan. All will be revealed on May 24, including the all-electric version dubbed the i5.
But even before its global debut scheduled for next month, an eagle-eyed photographer managed to take a snap of what could the 2024 5 Series. Posted by Polish publication Autogaleria, the supposed BMW was spotted without any camouflage livery. Sure, we only got to see the rear of it, but that's enough to sate our curiosity about the all-new 5 Series.
Side by side with the camouflaged vehicle that BMW shared recently, and it looks like a similar match. Despite the disguise hiding the distinct body lines, it's pretty clear that the vehicle spotted is the all-new 5 Series. From the more streamlined bodywork to the unique shape of the trunk lid, as well as the slimmer LED taillights and broader shoulder lines, the white sedan's resemblance with the Bavarian automaker's newest executive sedan is uncanny.
BMW is not yet ready to show the face of the all-new 5 Series. But based on the camouflaged images they released, it will get some significant changes like larger dual kidney grilles, sleeker LED headlights, and what looks like a more muscular hood.
The automaker is still coy about its exact powertrain lineup. However, they did say that it will be available with internal combustion engines (ICE), plug-in hybrid power units, as well as full-electric drive systems. Earlier this year, the automaker actually revealed a teaser of the i5 EV albeit still covered.
BMW says the 2024 5 Series will feature a specially-tuned suspension that maximizes comfort and agility. This is all thanks to the latest version of BMW's Vertical Dynamics Management which is now on its 9th generation.
It's based on a newly developed, extensively networked control logic, and factors in all the available input variables – such as wheel speeds, steering angle, yaw rate, and acceleration – to establish ideal damping forces. The system no longer calculates the required damping forces with mathematical models. Instead, it favors the physical calculation of data on the current driving condition to ensure defined body control and precise suspension response in every driving situation.
More details about the 2024 BMW 5 Series will be revealed on its world debut on May 24, 2023. Meanwhile, production of the all-new executive sedan will start later this year at the company's Dingolfing plant. Last but not least, the car's market launch will officially happen in October 2023.
