Ford has been teasing us for a while now with photos of the concept of the next generation Escape, and over at the L.A. Auto Show, they've finally released their compact crossover to the public.
The next generation Escape features the new look of the brand, and is constructed using the strongest steel available for auto production. Sleek and stylish, the new Escape also gets a premium interior, with a high focus on quality and consistency.
“Our designers created a well-proportioned vehicle that’s stunning from 20 feet away,” said Peter Bejin, Ford's manager for Global Craftsmanship “We want to deliver on that design promise on the craftsmanship side so that when customers walk up and open the door, sit inside and start interacting with the new Escape, it provokes that same emotion from 2 feet away, 1 inch away or 1 millimeter away.”
The interior design team especially considered the exclusive features no competitor can match in designing and engineering the all-new Escape with the SYNC system and MyFord Touch.
The new Escape is powered by a range of engines, headlined by the 1.6 liter EcoBoost that showcases a new level of efficiency and power for its size. An intelligent four wheel drive system is also available. Among many unique features in the new Escape is a grille that closes at speed for improved aerodynamic performance.
“This all-new Ford model opens a new chapter in the world of SUVs,” said Derrick Kuzak, VP for global product development. “By being smarter, this utility vehicle will help customers around the globe find better, easier ways to connect with technology, maximize fuel efficiency and find the versatility and capability they need and want.”
