Last Lotus sportscar with an internal combustion engine is coming soon

When Lotus first revealed the Emira last year, it signaled the eventual end of the combustion engine for the British sports car maker. With parent company Geely looking to relaunch the Lotus brand with an electric SUV in 2022, the Emira will be Lotus' swan song for the internal combustion engine (ICE).

If you've been looking to get one for yourself, you're in luck as Lotus Philippines will be bringing the Emira to the country next year. This was officially confirmed by Autohub Group of companies, the official distributor of Lotus in the country.

While no exact date was given as to when the Emira will be arriving in the country, Autohub Group did say that it's slated to make its Philippine debut in Q3 of 2022. That means we can expect the last Lotus sports car powered by an ICE to arrive sometime in July, August, or September next year.

Autohub did not reveal the exact specifications of the Lotus Emira bound for the Philippines. In other markets, however, it is available with two engine options. First is the tried-and-tested 3.5-liter supercharged V6 derived from Toyota. The other engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four sourced from Mercedes-AMG – the same engine that powers the A45 AMG.

Depending on the engine, the Lotus Emira will have between 360 to 400 PS on tap, with a maximum torque of 430 Nm. As for transmission options, there will be three available; a proper manual gearbox, a dual-clutch transmission, and an automatic. The fastest Emira can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h.
