LTFRB offers free rides for frontliners, APOR with 51 routes
Our frontliners and essential workers need all help they can get, especially with the number of cases these past week few weeks.
Thankfully, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is extending a helping hand. The agency announced they are offering free rides to authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) and essential workers allowed to travel during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period in the NCR Plus bubble.
According to the LTFRB, the free ride service will be available starting from 4:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Unfortunately, it’s not 24-hours, but still, at least there are free rides available. It covers 51 routes in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal, and Laguna, effectively all regions under ECQ. Those interested in availing of the free rides may check this link for all 51 routes. According to the LTFRB, modern PUVs will be used for the free ride service.
Along with the 51 routes manned by the PUVs, the agency also announced that frontliners, healthcare workers, and APORs may now ride public utility buses (PUBs) traveling along the EDSA Busway for free. The free rides for EDSA Busway users started last April 7, 2021. A total of 306 EDSA Busway units have been deployed.
To avail of the free rides, passengers must present a valid ID, proving they are APORs and essential workers. The LTFRB reminds passengers to strictly follow protocol when riding public transport, such as wearing face mask, face shields, and maintaining social distancing. Talking and eating while onboard a public vehicle is also prohibited.
The free ride services in NCR Plus will continue to be implemented until ECQ is lifted in the NCR Plus bubble.
