Here's some good news for vehicle owners that need to have their vehicles registration renewed soon. The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended the registration validity of vehicles with plates ending in 5, 6, and 7. Wait, didn't they already extend it before? Yes, and they're extending it once again to give motorists more time to renew.

In an earlier announcement, the LTO said that vehicles with plates ending in 5 had until the end of August to renew registration. Meanwhile, the registration of vehicles with plates ending in 6 and 7 were extended until the end of August and September, respectively.

Following the new announcement, the LTO has decided to extend the registration validity even further. Instead of August, vehicles with plates ending in 5 and 6 have until September 30, 2021, to renew. Meanwhile, registrations of those with plates ending in 7 will remain valid until October 31, 2021. Like before, the agency is reminding the public to follow strict safety protocols when heading to any of the LTO's renewal centers.

The LTO did not mention why the validity was extended once more. However, it's likely due to the recent implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in several parts of the country, including Metro Manila. Subsequently, LTO offices operating in regions currently under modified ECQ (MECQ) are operating at only 50% capacity. By extending the validity, the LTO can avoid crowding at offices for those registering their vehicles at the last minute.

Thankfully, there won't be any overlap with plates ending in 8 and 9 as they have been extended until the end of October, and November respectively. For motorists with driver's licenses, student permits, and conductor's licenses expiring soon, the LTO also extended their validity until November 30, 2021.
