700,000 of 3-million LTO license card backlogs can now be claimed
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is slowly catching up to the driver’s license cards backlog after it announced it now has enough plastic to issue one-third of the three million pending cards from applicants since the beginning of the year.
Drivers who applied from January 1 to October 16 2016 and are currently still holding the official receipt as temporary driver’s licenses, can now claim their plastic cards from any of the 36 licensing offices in Metro Manila.
All that needs to be presented upon claiming of the driver’s license plastic cards is the official receipt. The public is warned not to transact with fixers and not to pay any fees to claim their cards.
“I would like to caution all the claimants that they need not pay a single centavo to claim their driver’s licenses since they have already paid for it,” said LTO Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante.
This fresh batch of plastic cards will take care of some 700,000 applications out of the 3 million from Metro Manila that is still pending from the LTO.
Other parts of the country will follow and the LTO expects to cover everything by February 2017.
