The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently announced that registration for vehicles with plates ending in 5, 6, and 7 has been extended once again. Instead of August and September, the LTO announced the validity had been extended until October 2021.
It's the same story for vehicles with plates ending in 8 and 9.
Instead of ending in August, vehicles with plates ending in 8 now have until October 31, 2021, to renew their registration. Meanwhile, those with plates ending in 9 have their registration extended until November 30, 2021, rather than the end of September. By extending the validity of the registration, motorists will have more time to visit LTO offices.
It's great to hear that the validation of vehicle registration has been extended. However, this shouldn't be a reason for motorists to wait until the last minute to renew. Remember, Metro Manila and nearby regions are still under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ). Per the agency's previous announcement, LTO offices in the MECQ areas are only operating at 50% capacity. The last thing the LTO wants is for motorists to cram into offices during the last day month.
If you plan to visit the LTO during this MECQ period, remember to strictly follow safety protocols at all times. Try to be extra patient too; the process will likely take a lot longer.
