Indian automaker Mahindra has launched the 2015 Thar in India. In a nutshell, the Thar is Mahindra’s mid-size four-wheel drive off-road SUV. At first glance, one can’t help but notice the Thar’s similarities to the Jeep Wrangler.
Compared to the vehicle’s previous model, the 2015 Thar is fitted with a restyled front and rear bumpers as well as a more prominent wheel arches. In addition, the Indian off-road SUV gets new side steps, a restyled removable canopy and circular headlights.
In addition, the 2015 Thar is equipped with a mechanical locking rear differential technology that engages automatically. With the said technology, Mahindra claims that the 2015 Thar delivers an enhanced off-road capability.
The interior of the 2015 Thar features a dual-tone dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel and round aircon vents. Mahindra adds that the 2015 Thar comes with a new three-pod instrument cluster, a redesigned center console, a 12V charging port and black premium seats.
Powering the 2015 Thar is a 2.5-liter diesel engine that delivers 106 PS and 247 Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission with high- and low-range ratios.
