No sir, you simply can't do that
Here's one surefire way to get yourself in trouble with the law.
A man from Iloilo City was arrested for misusing the Philippine flag. Apparently, based on the investigation, the man was asked by his boss to cover up his vehicle which is parked in what looks like an open area. While most would use a car cover for this task, the man decided to use our very own flag.
Authorities took notice of this and found the man violating Republic Act 8941 or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines. Under Section 34, the Philippine flag is prohibited from being used as a covering for ceilings, walls, statues, or other objects.
While the man is still being investigated by the police, he may be facing a substantial fine of not less than PHP 5,000 to PHP 20,000, or even do time in jail.
According to the report, the man was not aware that using the Philippine flag as a car cover is prohibited. But of course, ignorance won't let him get away with the law.
So for all new car owners out there, that PHP 300+ car cover you see on e-commerce sites looks like it would really come in handy after seeing this.
