Customers of Toyota Global City (TGC) in Taguig may want to reschedule their visit or go to another dealership entirely for the time being.
Around 10:25 AM today, a huge fire struck the said dealership. According to the Taguig City Fire Station, the fire reached the second alarm around 10:50 AM but was under control at around 11:19 AM. Eventually, the firefighters were able to put out the blaze at 11:33 AM.
The fire supposedly started on the third floor of the dealership, which was undergoing renovations. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reportedly caused by the blaze. Due to the incident, however, Toyota Global City will be non-operational starting tomorrow, April 30, 2021, as management will need to check and assess the building for any other damages.
Based on the photos, it looks like several parts of the dealership were damaged, including some of the vehicles parked inside the premises. The estimated cost of damages has yet to be determined.
The dealership has since issued a statement informing that the personnel and clients that were present when the fire happened are safe. They also thanked the fire department for the prompt response and assistance.
TGC is under the management of Melandrex Holdings Inc (MHI) who also manages Toyota Pasong Tamo (TPT), and Toyota Angeles Pampanga (TAP). They approximately have 1,000 employees combined.
Aside from holding three Toyota dealerships, MHI also owns and operates M2 Car Accessories (M2 Car), and M2 Insurance Agency Inc. (M2 Insure). M2 Car supplies all the accessories needs of TGC, TPT, and TAP. Meanwhile, M2 Insure supplies the insurance requirements of the dealerships under MHI.
We sure hope that TGC and MHI are able to quickly recover from this unfortunate incident.
