Maxus Philippines will be expanding its model lineup once more with a new people carrier. After launching the T60 pick-up truck a few months ago, Maxus will be debuting the G50 MPV to the local market soon.
First launched in China back in 2018, the new MPV will slot below the bigger G10 van and will compete in the more lucrative MPV segment. Billed by the company 'to capture the fancy of young families and upwardly mobile professionals', the G50 features a sleek exterior design along with a comfy interior. It can even be specified with youthful colors such as Roland Purple as seen here.
Inside, the G50 can seat seven or eight individuals and has a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, along with a semi-digital instrument panel. Other interior appointments such as leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree around-view camera, and privacy glass are available for the 2020 G50. Hopefully, these features will be standard on the PH-spec model once it arrives here.
There's no word yet as to what engines will power the PH-spec G50. In China, there are a total of two turbocharged engines for the 2020 G50. They are the smaller 1.3-liter inline-four which puts out 163 PS and 230 Nm of torque and the slightly bigger 1.5-liter four-cylinder which delivers 169 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Maxus is targeting to launch the all-new G50 in the Philippines in Q3 of 2020 and is set to take on the likes of other MPVs in the class, such as the Toyota Innova.
