Mazda CX-3 may arrive in Philippine before year-end

Limited number of subcompact CX-3 crossovers may be offered

The long wait for the much-anticipated subcompact crossover from Mazda may soon be over as the CX-3 could arrive sooner than expected before year-end.

"Production capacity remains constrained in Japan, and Mazda PH has previously informed that the CX-3 will not be available until next year. It now appears Japan recognized the need to keep the Mazda business momentum in the Philippines moving ahead, and had allocated some of its oversubscribed production of CX-3 to the Philippine customers," said Steven Tan, said Steven Tan president of Berjaya Auto Philippines, distributor of Mazda.

Mazda Philippines has not revealed any final specifications nor pricing, but did confirm that the CX-3 will be made available in limited volume before the end of the year. A specific launch date is unavailable.

Besides its earlier arrival, Tan had also mentioned that the CX-3's positioning and pricing in relation to its competitors and the CX-5 is also being carefully considered. Because of high demand and limited production, the new model may be limited to just a few, if not just one variant for now. Philippine units will be built in and imported from Japan. As such, it seems likely that the first few units may be in the 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G all-wheel drive trim.

There was no mention of price points or any particular specifications, only that the vehicle will arrive in limited numbers before year-end.
