Say hello to the Isuzu D-Max's twin, the 2022 Mazda BT-50

After releasing several teaser photos, Mazda's all-new pick-up truck has arrived in the Philippines.

Meet the 2022 Mazda BT-50. Now on its third generation, the truck is now based on the latest Isuzu D-Max but gets its own exterior and interior design.

Starting with its face, the pick-up now comes with the brand's latest iteration of the Kodo – Soul of Motion design language. From the LED headlights, multi-slatted grille, sporty front bumper, and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels, the 2022 BT-50 is both sophisticated and rugged.

Size-wise, the BT-50 measures 5280mm long, 1870mm wide, and 1790mm tall. It also has a 3125mm wheelbase. Water wading is rated at 800mm; exactly the same as the D-Max.

Inside, high-grade versions of the BT-50 come with a full-leather upholstery which can be seen on the seats, dashboard, center armrests, and door cards. The infotainment is a large touchscreen multimedia system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB. Other available features present inside the BT-50 include dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-speaker sound system, a 4.2-inch multi-info display, rear A/C vents, and a navigation system.

Mazda also introduced a variety of advanced safety features, including automatic emergency braking and many more.

Under the hood, the BT-50 is only available with one engine, a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-four. It makes 190 PS along with 450 Nm of torque. If those figures look familiar, that's because it's the same 4JJ3-TCX engine that's available on the D-Max. Power is then sent to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with sequential shift.
