Mazda Philippines recently introduced its first salvo to challenge the local industry players. The premium Japanese carmaker launched the sporty mid-sized Mazda6 and the Tribute SUV. The two models promise to give customers a thrilling yet comfortable and safe driving experience. The RX-8 was also on display at the launch as a sign of things to come.

The Mazda6 drives itself in Zoom-Zoom spirit as a sporty mid-sized car into a niche market of itself being clearly unique from its competition in the mid-sized car market. The Mazda6 is equipped with a new generation 2-liter MZR all-aluminum engine, capable of producing [email protected],000rpm maximum power and maximum torque of [email protected],500rpm.

The suspension layout in front is a high-mount double wishbone configuration, while the rear uses an E-type multi-link featuring low-profile springs and angled dampers to maximize interior space. Safety features include dual SRS airbags, ABS and traction control as standard.

"The Mazda6 is Mazda's multi-awarded vehicle, garnering numerous recognitions globally because of its superior driving capabilities," said Dave Macasadia, Mazda Philippines Managing Director. It has received a total of 70 awards around the world including 2004 Car of the Year in China, 2003 RJC Car of the Year in Japan, Britain's Auto1Award Car of the Year in the UK and Car & Driver: The 2003 Best in the US.

The Tribute is Mazda's 4x2 SUV which offers the best of both worlds as a family transport in the city and a weekend tourer. Equipped with a 3-liter V6 engine with a maximum power output of [email protected],000rpm and maximum torque of [email protected], it provides power well enough for in and out of town traveling.

"The Tribute is built to provide the same driving dynamics of a sports car," says Macasadia. "Out customers' driving enjoyment comes first when we design our vehicles."

Standard safety features for the Tribute include anti-lock brakes (ABS) and dual SRS airbags. An immoblizer is also standard as an anti-theft security device.

"These two models exhibit Mazda's desire to reach out to as many consumers as we can because we believe we have the vehicles that cater to every consumers' needs," explains Macasadia.
