Mazda Philippines opened its doors to a second dealership along EDSA in Greenhills, San Juan. It also took the opportunity to introduce the new Mazda Tribute 2.3L, a sportier follow up to the successful introduction of the Mazda6 and Mazda Tribute 3.0L. The sportier Mazda Tribute 2.3L is the company's answer to the growing demand for a small Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) with a smaller powerplant than the current 3-liter model.

Carrying with it Mazda's brand imprint - insightful design, exceptional functionality and responsive handling, Mazda is certain that the Tribute 2.3L will raise consumers' expectations of an SUV. Equipped with multi-link MacPherson suspension and precise rack-and-pinion steering with speed-sensitive electronic power assist. Dual airbags and anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) ensure maximum braking efficiency to ensure safety.

The Mazda Tribute 2.3L is powered by a 2.3 liter DOHC 4cylinder engine, which utilizes a Variable Inertia Charging system and Tumble Swirl Control Valves for superior power, torque and fuel efficiency at all speeds. The engine is coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission with column shifter which directs power to the front wheels.

Other amenities include as standard are sunroof with tilt and slide function, power radio antenna, 6 CD in-dash radio with cassette, and integrated fieldbrake sidelamps. Also standard with the 2.3L is a full size spare tire compared with a safety spare for the 3.0L.

"We like to say Mazda is best represented by zoom-zoom, and therefore, we will offer vehicles that will be a joy to drive. As the world's number one maker of sports cars, numbers-wise, Mazda puts a little bit of sports car in everything we build. In the case of the Mazda Tribute, the Filipino consumer deserves to have more choices in the market, and that's what we are giving them. We believe that with the entry of the Mazda Tribute 2.3L, it would be the spritelier, sportier choice for an SUV," says Tonette Lee, Mazda Philippines.

Mazda Tribute 2.3L comes with a pricetag of Php1,130,000 and is available at Mazda Quezon Avenue dealership office and on July 15th, 2004, at Mazda Greenhills.
