It seems like Mazda Philippines has been on a roll recently. After launching the updated 2018 MX-5 last week, Berjaya Auto Pilipinas (BAP), the official distributor of Mazda cars in the country, recently revealed all-new variants of the CX-9 as well as the Mazda2.
First up is the 2018 CX-9 Sport Touring. Unlike the Grand Touring which comes with all-wheel drive, the Sport Touring is front-wheel drive only. Despite only being two-wheel drive, the Sport Touring version still comes with the turbocharged 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G inline-four that produces a healthy 230 PS and 420 Nm of torque. In addition, it retains the seven-seat layout as the Grand Touring.
To differentiate itself from the all-wheel drive variant, Mazda fitted the Sport Touring with 18-inch Dark Silver alloy wheels and non-adaptive LED headlights. It also comes with the following as standard: leather upholstery, power seats for the driver and front passenger, MZD Connect and Entertainment System and a six-speaker audio system. The CX-9 Touring Sport retails for Php 2,350,000.
Next up are the new Premium Series models for the Mazda2. New for 2018 are the Java and Crimson Editions. Beginning with the former, it's painted in a new hue called Titanium Flash. Meanwhile, the latter is finished in Mazda's new signature color called Soul Red Crystal. Both cars come with a unique bodykit, a shark fin antenna, red highlights throughout the body and a bespoke leather interior. Power comes from a 1.5-liter SkyActiv-G inline-four that puts out 108 PS and 139 Nm of torque.
Besides the Crimson and Java Editions, Mazda will also be offering the soon-to-available Katana Edition. Instead of having Soul Red Crystal or Titanium Flash, the Katana Edition is finished in another signature color from Mazda; Machine Gray.
Pricing for the Mazda2 Premium Series Editions have yet to be revealed.
The 2018 CX-9 Touring Sport, Mazda2 Premium Series Editions and the 2018 MX-5 will be present at this year's Zoom Fest which will run from June 15 – 17. Those interested will get to experience the Jinba Ittai concept (rider and horse as one) as well as get a chance to avail of promos and raffle prizes such as Shell fuel vouchers or discount certificates in purchasing a Mazda vehicle.
“Zoom Fest has been a key touch point for Mazda and our customers over the past five years. We know this weekend is special not only for fathers but for whole families as well and because of that, we always make it a point to come back here every year to showcase our award-winning models and give our customers a feature-filled display and test drive experience,” said Steven Tan, president and CEO of Mazda Philippines.
The 2018 Mazda Zoom Fest will take place at the Big Bear High Street venue at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
