Mazda Philippines has just launched the latest version of the Mazda CX-5, the 2.5 liter AWD (all-wheel drive) Sport SKYACTIV-G. The new version slots in as the top of the line variant of the CX-5 range.

The 2013 Mazda CX-5 2.5L AWD Sport comes with the complete SKYACTIV package which incorporates the SKYACTIV-G engine, the SKYACTIV transmission and the ultra lightweight SKYACTIV body. The three combine to deliver a fun to drive package with high levels of fuel efficiency.

The 2.5 liter SKYACTIV-G Inline-4 engine features direct injection and an ultra high compression ratio (13:1), enabling the engine to pump out 188 PS at 5700 rpm and 250 Nm at 3250 rpm. The engine is made to drive all four wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission that has been optimized for efficiency.

For features, the CX-5 AWD Sport has the standard suite of equipment like power windows, mirrors, locks and electric power steering, and throws in a climate control system, a touchscreen audio system and other bits. The unusual bit is that Berjaya Auto Philippines (the official distributor of Mazda) equipped the CX-5 AWD Sport with i-STOP, Traction Control, Stability Control, ABS, EBD, 6 airbags, power front seats, adaptive HID headlamps and a sunroof.

Berjaya Auto Philippines has also priced the CX-5 AWD Sport SKYACTIV-G to undercut its primary competition (Toyota RAV4 and Subaru Forester in top spec) at PhP 1,685,000. All Mazda cars now come with free preventive maintenance service (parts and labor) as part of the YOJIN3 package.

Check soon as we drive the new SKYACTIV-G duo from Mazda: the CX-5 AWD Sport as well as the all new Mazda6.
