Mazda recalling 2014 Mazda6 sedans

Recalled due to fuel overfill

Mazda North American Operations is recalling a certain model-year range of the 2014 Mazda6 because its fuel tanks can be filled up beyond its rated capacity, increasing the risk of a fire.

The affected vehicles are the ones manufactured from Oct. 25, 2012 to May 9, 2013.

According to a bulletin released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the fuel tank of the 2014 Mazda6 is overfilled, “gas may flow into the charcoal canister, an evaporative emissions component, and possibly leak from the canister's external vent, increasing the risk of a fire.”

Mazda has responded to the recall issue and will notify owners and dealers. The automaker will add an adapter to the shut off valve in the fuel tank and will inspect the charcoal canister for the presence of gasoline, replacing it as necessary.

According to Berjaya Auto Philippines President Steven Tan, local units are unaffected.
