We previously reported of McLaren’s serious intent in coming to the Philippines when we spoke to McLaren Automotive Asia Pacific Managing Director George Biggs.
We can now confidently say that McLaren is officially coming to the country very soon.
According to a report by Reuters, McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt was recently quoted saying “We need to put more cars into Asia,” as he spoke to reporters in Detroit. Flewitt also mentioned Philippines and Vietnam as markets they're keen on setting up shop in.
According to a reliable source who wished anonymity, there will be new official McLaren units coming in as soon as Q1 of 2020 and the showroom is scheduled to open by mid-2020 right in the heart of Bonifacio Global City.
Recently, newly appointed McLaren distributor Marc Tagle hosted an exclusive function for prospective buyers to officially start his distributorship of the Woking-based sports car brand. This will be McLaren’s first official entry into the Philippine market. Tagle is also president of Philippine Allied Enterprises, the exclusive distributor of Bridgestone and Firestone tires and heads the distribution company of Aston Martin as well.
The whole Mclaren Automotive range from the 570s to the 720s Spyder and the GT which debuted this year was shown as the prospective offerings.
