Sharper, lighter McLaren 570S Spider Track Pack debuts
McLaren recently decided to make the 570S Spider sharper and more agile handling both on the road and on the race track. To do so, the Woking-based manufacturer has given the open-top sports car a diet. Specifically, it has reduced the weight of the vehicle by around 33kg thanks to lighter seats and a more extensive use of carbon fiber.
Called the Track Pack, McLaren previously offered this kit on 570S coupe. Now, they have decided to give its open top sibling the similar treatment. New on the Track Pack-equipped 570S Spider are carbon fiber race seats, which are 13 kg lighter than standard and a new carbon fiber steering wheel with Alcantara inserts. More carbon fiber lines the interior such as the door cars, paddle shifters, and lower center console switches.
From the outside, the Track Pack kitted models come equipped with new 10-spoke forged alloy wheels which are 15 kg lighter than the standard units. They are then wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires, to improve grip both on road and on the track. The company has also fitted the McLaren Track Telemetry (MTT) system to provide lap times and post-drive analysis to help improve driving.
Also fitted on the 570S Spider Track Pack is a new sports exhaust system which is lighter and louder than standard. The company did not mention, however, if there were any power gains with the new exhaust as they say the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 still produces 570 PS.
“The 570S Spider has already gained a reputation as an extremely accomplished luxury sports car that is hugely enjoyable to drive on a circuit. ” said Jolyon Nash, Executive Director of Global Sales and Marketing at McLaren Automotive.
The Track Pack kit is available only on new orders of the McLaren 570S Spider.
