Accompanying the P1 MSO is the one-off MSO 650S Spider
McLaren Special Operations (MSO) has confirmed that they will return to Pebble Beach to display their custom renditions of the P1 and the 650S Spider.
The MSO P1 is painted in Sterling Gray and is highlighted by a glossy carbon fiber finish with the signature McLaren orange accents. The brake calipers are also finished with the brand’s color that are set behind body-colored alloy wheels. The fascia of the P1 is adorned with an aluminum radiator that sits below the carbon fiber bumper and is finished with a McLaren Orange speedmark hood ornament.
At the rear, a 24 carat gold heat shield encompasses the engine bay along with an F1-derived Inconel exhaust. The twin wing set up gets the Stealth Pack paint finish and is split into two parts; the upper rear wing is finished in body color while the lower rear wing is finished in carbon fiber, detailing the stealth look of the rear end. An aluminum grill is placed above the rear carbon fiber bumper and is mounted by the car’s trademark LED tail light design.
Inside the MSO P1, carbon fiber and Alcantara fabric is extensively used and is equipped with carbon shell racing seats that are fitted with four-point harnesses. Stone Grey binding and stitching complements the finish of the upholstery while McLaren Orange accentuates the center console.
Alongside the MSO P1 will be a one-off rendition of the MSO 650S Spider that was co-designed with McLaren Newport Beach and McLaren Automotive Designer Frank Stephenson. It is one of only 50 examples that were based off the MSO 650S that debuted earlier during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The MSO 650S Spider is coated in Cerulean Blue paint that is composed of heavy metallic flakes that shows deep luster. Contradicting the shiny paint job are pieces of carbon fiber body panels that encompass the front bumper, side air intakes, the center segment of the rear bumper, and the special MSO rear diffuser. Completing the exterior look is a set of 10-spoke Super Lightweight alloy wheels and chrome-tipped exhausts.
The interior is covered in carbon black leather that is highlighted by blue stitching that can be found on the steering wheel, dashboard and door panels. The headrests of the seats are decorated with McLaren’s signature speedmark and also receive the blue stitching accents. Finishing the interior demeanor is a dedication plaque with the signature of Frank Stephenson and is accompanied with a MSO leather holdall, handmade from carbon fiber leather and is accentuated with dark chrome metal finishers.
The MSO division was originally conceived in 2011 as a special personalization service for McLaren clients. The group grew out of McLaren’s Customer Care program that still continues to provide service and maintenance checks for the F1 and other McLaren models.
