Built by SVO, produces 600 horsepower and limited to 300 units
Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations, or SVO in short, has been known for building some of Jaguar's most high-performance models such as the F-Type Project 7 back in 2014. This time around, SVO have been fiddling around with the XE sedan and has given it 600PS via a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 - thereby creating what Jaguar calls "the most extreme performance road car."
“The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar. Our clients worldwide were thrilled by the F-TYPE Project 7. The new XE SV Project 8 takes aerodynamics and performance engineering to another level – it is conceived for enthusiasts and the most discerning collectors,” said John Edwards, managing director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations.
Much like the F-Type Project 7, Jaguar has announced that the Project 8 will also have a limited run with only 300 units to be built - all of which will be hand-assembled at SVO's Technical Center. Jaguar will be premiere the XE SV Project 8's global debut at the up coming Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 30th.
Comparing it to the top model in the current range, the XE S, there is quite a big difference in performance between the two. The XE S is powered by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 outputting 380PS, which is no certainly no slouch. However, comparing it to the 600PS XE SV Project 8 and with Jaguar's branding of “most extreme performance car ever," it could even be faster than the F-Type SVR.
Apart from the 600PS 5.0-liter supercharged V8, Jaguar have yet to announce other technical specifications and details about the Project 8. The Britsh marque however says that full details will be revealed two-days prior to its global debut at Goodwood on June 28th.
