With just several weeks to go before this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mercedes-AMG has just released teaser images of what appears to be a hotter version of the GT.
To be called the GT R, the upcoming sports car looks to have undergone some minor alterations. Beginning with the front end, it gets a more aggressive bumper, along with a bigger grill reminiscent of the AMG GT3 racecar. Also seen is a ventilated hood for better engine cooling and what appears to be a roof made from carbon fiber.
Exact powertrain details were not revealed though it could be powered by an upgrade 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, or a detuned version of the 6.3-liter V8 found on the GT3 racecar.
In standard specification, the 4.0-liter V8 cranks out 468 PS at 6,000 rpm along with 600 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 5,000 rpm. Meanwhile, the more powerful S model gets a substantial boost in power as it produces 517 PS at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque at 1,750 – 4,750 rpm.
Other than that, the AMG GT R could also get a new exhaust system courtesy of the teaser video which showcases the car's loud exhaust note.
