With over 2.2 million vehicles sold last year, Mercedes-Benz is keen to retain their title of world's best-selling luxury marque. They plan to do so by giving their top-selling model, the C-Class a bit of a refresh. The updated C-Class is set for its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, which is coming in a few weeks time.
Changes to the outside are rather subtle, requiring a closer look to spot the changes. The LED clusters of the headlights have been repositioned, along with tweaked daytime running lights. Its bumpers have been redesigned as well and, with the AMG Line variant, it looks closer to its high-powered sibling, the C63. Also tweaked is the rear bumper, particularly in the lower section. It's been mildly reshaped and, depending on the line chosen (Avantgarde, Exclusive, AMG Line), it comes with different trimming as well. New wheels then cap off the changes to the C-Class' exterior.
Inside, it's much like the one current model save for one significant option. Buyers can now opt for the 10.25-inch COMAND display screen, along with the 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. While its design is largely carried over, there are new interior trim combinations to choose from with the addition of Natural Grain Walnut Wood or Natural Grain Grey Oak Wood. Magma Grey/Black upholstery is newly available for the interior, as is Saddle Brown and Silk Beige/Black for the AMG-Line Interior. Also, Keyless Go is now fitted standard across the range.
The will also get the same front fascia changes, as well as minor tweaks at the rear. For now, the full engine line-up has yet to be revealed but a range of four and six-cylinder turbocharged gas and diesels are to be expected. They did, however, announce a new engine that will be added to the C-Class options list. A new turbocharged 2.0-liter engine will power the mid-spec models and it now produces 255 PS and 370 Nm of torque. Rear-wheel drive will be standard while 4Matic all-wheel drive is an option.
