To celebrate the launch of an all new model, Mercedes-AMG usually releases an Edition 1 special to mark the event. Edition 1 variants are only available for the first 12 months of production. This then gives it some semblance of rarity over the standard model. With the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe being brand's newest model, it comes to no surprise that an Edition 1 treatment has also been applied to it.
The Edition 1 is built off the range-topper Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S but comes with some exclusive exterior and interior upgrades. Externally, it is fitted with the optional AMG Aerodynamics Package as standard which adds a larger front splitter, a more prominent rear diffuser, and a manually adjusted fixed rear wing; all of which can help improve downforce.
In order for the Edition 1 to stand out, there are matte Graphite Gray AMG stripes that run along the, doors, hood, roof, and trunk. Owners can then have their vehicles painted in either Designo Graphite Gray Magno, Diamond White Bright or Graphite Gray Metallic. 21-inch AMG wheels painted in matte black completes the AMG GT 63 S Edition 1's external makeover.
Inside, the Edition 1 is upholstered in Magma Grey and black Nappa leather from the dashboard to the seats. They are then contrasted by yellow stitching and yellow seat belts. Carbon fiber trim, unique floormats, and an Edition 1 badge further siginfies that this is no regular AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.
Under the hood is the 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 from the AMG GT 63 S which produces 640 PS and 900 Nm of torque. An AMG 9-speed automatic transmission then sends power to all four wheel via AMG's 4-Matic all-wheel drive.
Prices of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S Edition 1 have yet to be announced. The car will make its public debut at the upcoming 24 Hours of the Nurburging.
