The German luxury brand has just launched its latest AMG sport model in the guise of the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC.
Currently the third model after the C450 AMG and the GLE 450 AMG Coupe, the company described the new crossover as their latest model that will attract new buyers to the AMG brand with its highly advanced powertrain.
Aesthetically, the exterior design largely carries over from the standard GLE. It only differs with the addition of a slightly altered bodykit, two chromed twin tailpipes and 20-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 265/40 tires. Also available is the larger 21-inch set that also feature a 5-spoke design.
Its body dimensions come in at 4,816mm long, 1,926mm wide and 1,762mm tall. It has a wheelbase measurement of 2,915mm.
Aboard, the seats and flat-bottomed steering wheel are wrapped in Nappa sports leather. Providing contrast against the pre-dominantly black-gray cabin are aluminum trim pieces and the brushed stainless steel sport pedals.
Residing under the hood is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that cranks out 367 PS at 5,550 – 6,000 rpm along with a torque pull of 520 Nm available at 2,000 – 4,200 rpm. Power is then send to all four wheels via a 9GTronic 9-speed automatic gearbox and 4MATIC AWD system. It can sprint from 0 – 100km/h in 5.7 seconds before hitting its 250 km/h top speed.
Fitted as standard on the GLE 450 AMG is the Airmatic air suspension system which can automatically adjust damping depending on the driver’s preference. It also has the Sports Direct-Steer system that promises precise steering.
Other standard features that will be available in the new AMG include: adaptive brakes, tire pressure monitoring system, collision prevention assist, power front seats, start/stop function and the brand’s Pre-Safe system.
