2013 Mercedes-Benz B-Class makes PH debut

All set for the future with the modular 'Energy Space' concept

CATS Motors, Inc., the Philippine General Distributor of Mercedes-Benz, officially introduces the new B-Class to the Philippine market. This five-seater will be the first of the new generation compact cars from Mercedes-Benz that will host a new era of design and technology.

The B-Class is powered by a newly developed 156 horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder in-line engine that drives the power to the wheels via a 7G-DCT dual clutch gearbox. Some of the notable features of the B-class includes Mercedes-Benz's safety assist systems like the Active Parking Assist, Attention Assist and Acceleration Skid Control; an ECO start/stop function also comes as a standard on all B-Class models.

A more discreet Night Package is also available for the B-Class', it will have exterior mirrors painted in black, bumpers without chrome highlights, roof and beltline trim strip in high-gloss black, dark-tinted heat-insulating glass from B-pillar to rear, and a radiator grille with twin louvers in high-gloss black with minimal chrome highlights. Its 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light alloy wheels will also be painted black with high-sheen finish.

Interestingly, the new B-Class follows the new modular 'Energy Space' concept. It is designed to accommodate different versions of an alternative powertrain in the future by having ample spaces on the body shell to install alternative energy accumulators such as the typical battery packs seen on hybrid vehicles.

“The new B-Class aims to penetrate a new and younger market for Mercedes-Benz. It is designed with the next generation of Mercedes-Benz owners in mind,” says Zoilo Calina, CATS Motors Assistant Vice President for Marketing Communications.

The standard Mercedes-Benz B200 BlueEfficiency is priced at Php2,280,000.00 while the B200 Night Package is priced at Php2,580,000.00
