Mercedes-Benz's line up is experiencing a revitalization, and the GLK is one of the first to get the mid-life makeover treatment.
The tristar's compact crossover SUV gets a new look for the 2012 model year, bringing it more in line with the brand's new design statement. The GLK has lost its edginess in favor of a more sculpted look especially at the front. Towards the back, the rear end of the car receives a few new touches as well.
The interior designers at the Mercedes-Benz Design Studio in Sindelfingen have undertaken a complete makeover of the dashboard with a wide trim in aluminium (or wood), new round vents and additional trim elements in silver shadow.
The GLK's improvements are not all cosmetic, as it was given the BlueEfficiency treatment with an ECO start/stop. The engine choices range from a 143 horsepower CDI diesel engine to a 306 horsepower 3.5 liter V6.
"In the GLK we have a dynamic lifestyle SUV offering a winning combination of intelligent technology and character in abundance," says Dr Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales and Marketing. "It will further bolster our SUV portfolio, making a vital contribution to Mercedes-Benz's global growth in this market segment."
