Looks like the Mercedes booth at the 2014 North American International Auto Show will be teeming with visitors as the automaker from Stuttgart will be debuting the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG.
AMG has taken the basic GLA compact crossover and gave it a full makeover, allowing it to join the A 45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG as the brand's high performance entry into a new segment.
On the outside, the GLA 45 AMG receives an Affalterbach redesign with larger air intakes, wider haunches and an overall aggressive look. Inside, the GLA has been given sportier bucket seats, as well as red and carbon trim pieces, among others.
At the heart of the GLA 45 AMG is a 2.0 liter turbocharged inline-4, producing 360 horsepower and 450 Newton-meters of torque. Sending those figures to the tarmac is a the AMG 4-Matic all wheel drive system along with the AMG Speedshift 7-speed dual clutch transmission. As a result, the GLA 45 AMG accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds and achieves a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG will highlight the Mercedes-Benz booth in Detroit next week, January 13, 2014.
