The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition is making a grand finale with a simultaneous reveal at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show and the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show for the SLS AMG model with a limited run of 350 units. The last hurrah will be offered in either Coupe or Roadster versions of the supercar. Released as a tribute to the classic 300 SL ‘Gullwing’, the SLS AMG has become a ‘classic of the future’ itself.
With much inspiration from the GT race version and the also limited ‘Black Series’, the ‘Final Edition’ features carbon fiber visual elements that are both awesome and functional; the front splitter and the rear wing are made of real carbon fiber, unfortunately the hood only has it for effect. It will feature exclusive AMG forged lightweight wheels wrapped with 275/35R19 front and 295/30R20 rear Dunlop Sport Maxx Race Cup tires. A ‘designo magno graphite matte’ paintjob derived from the 45th anniversary GT3 version is available as an option.
Under the hood will be the 591 PS, 650 Nm version of the AMG 6.3-liter V8 engine found in the standard GT version. This is mated to an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission. It comes with Race Start and automatic double-declutching function. The AMG Ride Control allows for electronic adjustment of damping which includes ‘Sport’ and ’Sport plus’ programs.
The interior features a diamond pattern ‘designo’ Exclusive leather trims, contrast silver topstitching on the black leather upholstery and silver seat belts. More carbon fiber treatments inside come as standard. The exclusive ‘AMG Final Edition – 1 of 350’ adorns the carbon-fiber center console. An Alcantara wrapped AMG steering wheel gets a silver 12 o’clock marking with gloss back metal inserts
