Mercedes-Benz is recalling 6,872 cars built from 2010 to 2011, all of which are equipped with clean diesel (BlueTEC) engines around concerns with the diesel fuel filter.

According the U.S. NHTSA, or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the diesel fuel filter may leak from around the heating component, creating the possibility for many dangerous scenarios such as accidents and fire.

The NHTSA issued the notice and it involves the following models: the E-Class built from July 2010 to February 2011, the R-Class built from April 2010 to April 2011, the M-Class (or ML) built from January 2010 to March 2011, as well as the GL-Class built from March 2010 to March 2011 (not to be confused with the G-Class).

CATS Motors, the official Mercedes-Benz distributor in the Philippines, says that Philippine market units are unaffected.
