Ford Philippines unveiled the 2015 Expedition Platinum at the Manila International Auto Show.
The updated Expedition swaps the old 5.4 liter V8 for a smaller yet more powerful 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6. The twin turbo V6 promises better fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance. The Expedition Platinum package also updates the Expedition's exterior with a new grille and LED foglights. The rear hatch also gets redesigned along with its chrome tipped exhaust pipes. The Expedition Platinum rides on 22 inch wheels, the largest in its class.
Inside, the updated Expedition gets a refreshed center stack to accommodate the 8 inch touch screen for SYNC with MyFord Touch and a 4.2 inch LCD screen for the driver information cluster. It also gets a 10 speaker, 700 watt Sony audio system. The interior receives ambient LED lighting and Burnello leather seating with accented French seamed stitching.
The Expedition Platinum hosts numerous convenience features such as the push button start, electronic power steering, a rearview camera and the Blind Spot Information System.
Significant improvements were made to it’s handling and performance. The Expedition comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission which now features a manual mode. New to the Expedition is the continuously controlled damping suspension which has three modes: comfort, normal and sport.
The biggest change done to the Expedition is the powertrain. The new 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine puts out 370 PS of power and 569 Nm of torque. According to Ford, there will always be torque on demand even at very low engine speeds.
The Ford Expedition Platinum will be on sale starting July. It will be available in three colors, White Platinum, Tuxedo Black and Magnetic Metallic and will have a retail price of Php 3,488,000.
