Since its debut in 2013, the Chevrolet Colorado was missing one variant that has proven popular in the country: a 4x2 with an automatic transmission. In this year's Manila International Auto Show, Chevrolet has addressed that by introducing the Colorado 4x2 LT automatic and aims to get a bigger slice of the popular one-ton pickup market.
There are no significant visual changes that separate it from the 4x4 versions apart from a different set of alloy wheels. In addition, Chevrolet has introduced a new color for the Colorado (and Trailblazer) called Blue Mountain which is pictured above.
The standard non-touchscreen audio system is featured in the 4x2 Colorado LT although a touchscreen infotainment system will eventually be available as a dealer-installed option. The rest of the cabin is standard Colorado fare.
Unlike the manual transmission 4x2 Colorado with its 2.5 liter diesel, the 4x2 LT automatic is powered by the bigger, more powerful 2.8 liter Duramax diesel lifted from the 4x4 models. It produces 200 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The automatic transmission is a six speed unit, also lifted from the 4x4 Colorado and Trailblazers.
The 2016 Chevrolet Colorado 4x2 LT Automatic starts at Php 1, 218,888 with a low downpayment of 128,888. Chevrolet Philippines is also offering a Php 60,000 discount for cash buyers.
