The high-performance sports compact from Hyundai will soon be available in the Philippines after Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) announced that it will be making its official debut at this year's Manila International Auto Show.
Details about the upcoming Veloster Turbo are not yet available but the company did reveal the updated version of the sports compact back in 2015. It is highly likely that we will get the recently updated model that gets minor exterior and interior revisions and a turbocharged GDI powerplant that can be mated to a new 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.
Beginning with its exterior, the Veloster Turbo features restyled projector headlights and new hexagonal grill trim and wheel designs. Rounding off the exterior revisions is a new paint finish called Intense Red and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Veloster Turbo has a two-tone interior finish which can be seen on the seats, center console and door sills. Leather seats, on the other hand, will come as optional extras. In terms of equipment, it gets multifunction steering wheel, dual-gauge instrument panel with multi-information display, touchscreen infotainment and automatic climate control.
The refreshed Veloster Turbo also has an engine sound equalizer which will allow the driver to select from 6 different engine soundtracks.
Propelling the Veloster Turbo will still be the familiar 1.6-liter turbocharged GDI inline-four. It is rated to crank out 204 PS along with 265 Nm of torque and can be mated to a new 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. Hyundai claimed it will deliver better fuel economy and refined smoothness over the 6-speed manual transmission, which is still being offered in some markets.
The 2016 Manila International Auto Show will take place at the World Trade Center in Pasay City from April 7 – 10, 2016.
