Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru in the country, will soon show the updated 2016 Forester at this year's Manila International Auto Show. First making its South East Asian debut during the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show, the revamped Forester gets improved handling dynamics, new technologies, and gave the crossover aesthetic upgrades.
For 2016, all variants will have a brand new grill, taillights and rims. As for its interior, features across the range have been enhanced along with a refreshed cabin design to welcome the driver. It gets a new head-unit and an LCD Cluster display for Premium and up models. Subaru adds that noise from inside and outside the cabin has been reduced as a result of improved sound proofing materials and increased window thickness. New to the Forester is a Personal Identification Number (PIN) code access to the car's doors. Should the key fob be misplaced or broken, the PIN access allows the user to their car without the Key Fob, unlocking the vehicle’s doors by entering the pre-set PIN code.
Improvements have been made to the chassis as well. The suspension has been updated, featuring a stiffer front cross member and enhanced coil springs and dampers. In addition, Subaru has also upgraded the X-Mode system. The X-Mode's Hill Descent Control helps modulate speed when the vehicle is going down a steep hill in the city, or through gravel slopes in the outdoors.
Carried over from the current Forester are the engines although Subaru made minor tweaks to improve response and efficiency. The 2.0i and 2.0i-Premium are powered by a naturally aspirated 2.0 liter, 16-Valve, FB20 Boxer Engine which produces 150PS. As for the 2.0 XT, its engine puts out 241 PS thanks to direct injection and turbocharging. All Foresters are mated to the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission.
Reservations for the updated 2016 Forester begin April 7 at all Subaru Showrooms across the Philippines.
