It's take two for Hyundai as it re-attempts to enter the B-Segment crossover with their latest entry to the segment.
Dubbed the Creta, the Indian-built crossover is set to go up against the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Nissan Juke and Honda BR-V, effectively replacing the i20 CrossSport which was quietly discontinued last year.
Measuring in at 4,270 mm long, 1,780 mm wide and 1,630 mm long, the Creta is well within the size of the B-Segment. Along with that, it has a wheelbase the measures 2,590 mm long. It serves as Hyundai's smallest crossover in the Philippines, slotting below the Tucson.
As for its design, it follows Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, albeit in a more upright and angular form. At the front, we see large, tapered headlights and the signature hexagonal grill. Speaking of its grill, it incorporates a three-bar design. Large foglights flank the corners of the front bumper, along with unpainted cladding that surrounds the lower half of the car.
On to its side, the roofline slopes downwards while the window line goes upwards, a similar treatment to the rest of Hyundai's crossover lineup. A bold character line that runs through the door handles defines the side profile as well. Towards the rear, it gets a roof-mounted spoiler and horizontal taillights.
Inside, it gets a sweeping dash design with a high-mounted infotainment touchscreen. A multi-information display is also present, so are steering wheel mounted controls. Automatic climate conteol, as well as a push to start button is also available. Leather seats, rear A/C vents, dual and side curtain airbags, traction control and a reverse parking camera are also part of the package.
As for its engines, there are gas and diesel engines available. The gas engine is a 1.6-liter Dual VTVT mill that produces 121 PS and 150 Nm of torque. Moving to the diesel unit, it's displacement is also at 1.6-liters. Benefiting from CRDI, the diesel Creta puts out 126 PS and 260 Nm of torque. It will be available with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
