First of upcoming Subaru models to use a new platform
Following its official ASEAN release last January, it wasn't long until Motor Image Philippines officially launches the all new Subaru Impreza. Initially making its debut at the 2016 New York Auto Show, the Impreza has been able to clinch the title of Car of the Year for Subaru.
The 2017 Impreza is the first of upcoming Subarus which will ride on a new architecture platform called the Subaru Global Platform, set to underpin all future Subaru models. Subaru also adds that the new platform focuses on economy, comfort and safety rather than overall performance. The platform also promises to bring “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind".
With the new platform, it also changed the dimensions of the Impreza which now measuring 4,685 mm long, 1,778 mm wide, 1,455 mm tall and sits on a 2,670 mm wheelbase. At the front, it features Subaru's iconic hexagonal grill which is now more pronounced, along with a more aggressive set of headlights. Towards the rear, a new set of L' taillights along with an upward flowing trunk follows with the more aggressive stance seen in the more emphasized fenders. More space and more leg room can also be found inside courtesy of the wider dimensions.
Powering the Impreza is the 2.0-liter FB20 boxer engine now produces 155 PS and 196 Nm of torque. The only transmission avaiable would be a Lineartronic CVT and it mated to an improved version of Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive technology, which is also applied to the rest of the Subaru line up.
Price for the Impreza begins at Php 1,358,000
