MIAS 2022: Subaru Forester launched with upgraded EyeSight

Refreshed crossover sells for PHP 2.068M

It’s looking fresh, and it just became a lot more intelligent. Say hello to the updated Subaru Forester.

Motor Image Pilipinas has officially launched the crossover together with the all-new Subaru BRZ. The fifth-generation model gets a proper refresh for the 2022 model year.

Most of the changes came in the Forester’s exterior. The front fascia gets a facelift with new headlights, a wider grille, and a slightly tweaked bumper shape. Over at the rear, the restyled bumper gets a splash of silver and now comes with a larger pair of reflectors. To complete the exterior update, the crossover rolls on a new set of 18-inch wheels.

If you’ve stepped inside the pre-facelift version of the Forester, the interior would look relatively familiar, albeit with some slight updates. The seat patterns have been revised, and the infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Under the hood is the same 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-four engine with 156 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. Power is then transmitted to a Lineartronic CVT that drives the Forester’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.

Aside from the exterior changes, the most significant update to the 2022 Forester is the new EyeSight 4.0 driver safety technology. On top of the current range of functions like autonomous emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, the crossover now features automatic lane centering and lane departure prevention.

The system’s pre-collision braking was also upgraded, and can now detect other lanes aside from its own. Furthermore, the improved X-Mode drive select system makes the Forester tackle uneven surfaces and challenging inclines and declines better than before.

The updated Subaru Forester is offered with only the 2.0i-EyeSight variant that sells for PHP 2.068 million, which means the prices remain unchanged from the outgoing pre-facelift model. If you’re interested to buy one, there’s even an introductory discount of PHP 50,000.

In addition, the refreshed crossover has three new colors to choose from, namely: Brilliant Bronze Metallic, Autumn Green Metallic, and Cascade Green Mica. Meanwhile, the Crystal Black Silica, Horizon Blue Pearl, Magnetite Gray Metallic, Ice Silver Metallic, Crystal White Pearl, and Crimson Red Pearl colors are also offered.
