Here's everything you need to know about 2023 Ford Territory

After teasing and revealing its initial features, Ford Philippines has officially launched the 2023 Territory. Also called the Equator Sport in other markets, the all-new crossover is now bigger, sleeker, and more high-tech than ever. In addition, the 2023 Territory is out to get the likes of the MG HS, Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Geely Azkarra, and Changan CS55.

Starting with its design, the all-new Territory is no longer a rebadged Yusheng S330 and it now wears Ford’s new global DNA design language. Up front, it gets a stylish honeycomb grille and a unique two-tier headlight design that’s complemented by a unique pair of LED daytime running lights. As an added bonus, all variants of the 2023 Territory get automatic LED headlights and LED foglights for the front and rear.

Speaking of the rear, the crossover gets a redesigned tailgate and a sleeker pair of wraparound LED taillights which heightens its more chiseled appearance. Other neat features present on the 2023 Territory include a sloping roofline, muscular curves on the fenders, and a choice between 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant.

Size-wise, the 2023 Territory now measures 4630mm long, 1935mm wide, and 1706mm tall. This makes the next-generation crossover longer by 50mm and taller by 32mm. It is narrower by 1mm, however, compared to the outgoing model. The wheelbase is now 2726mm which is 10mm more than the previous generation while ground clearance also gets a 10mm increase to 190mm.

Open the doors and the 2023 Territory greets occupants with a more stylish and minimalist-looking cabin. Immediately noticeable is the pair of digital screens on the dashboard. The center dash is dominated by a 12-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets other connectivity features as standard and is hooked up to either an 8- or 6-speaker sound system.

The other monitor serves as the vehicle’s instrument cluster and is available in either a 7-inch or 12.3-inch display, depending on the variant chosen. Other available amenities inside the 2023 Territory include; perforated leather seats, an automatic start/stop function, a tilt/telescopic steering column, dual-zone auto climate control with rear vents, a wireless charging pad, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a power tailgate, and a panoramic moonroof.

Under the hood of the 2023 Territory is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. Despite having the same displacement as the previous Territory, the new turbocharged inline-four makes more power at 160 PS at 5400 to 5700 rpm with 248 Nm of torque between 1500 to 3500 rpm. This translates to an extra 17 PS and an additional 23 Nm of pull. Don’t expect to find a CVT driving the front wheels as this one now has a 7-speed wet dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
