Mitsubishi has recently revealed the updated 2015 ASX compact crossover featuring a revised interior and exterior finish.
The new ASX now weighs in at just 1350kg, 15kg lighter than the previous generation. The range topping GSR will be fitted with a 160-degree super wide range HID headlamps and fog lamps with integrated LED Daytime Running lights. The GLS variant will have chrome accents in lieu of the LED DRLs.
Inside the ASX, an all-black finish covers the dashboard that accentuates a sporty and vibrant look according to Mitsubishi. The 3-spoke steering wheel has now tilt and telescopic adjustments and is wrapped in leather with silver accents. Audio switches and cruise control have also been integrated onto the steering wheel for easy adjustments. A LCD multi-information display that shows the trip meter, fuel economy and average speed now comes as standard on both models. For entertainment amenities, the new ASX has a 6.5-inch touch screen LCD screen that can play DVDs and music from either an iPod or flash drive. An optional GPS navigation system can also be added if one opts for it.
A new feature present in the 2015 ASX is the panoramic glass roof that is available for the GSR model. It has a retractable sunshade that when fully pulled back, reveals a glass panel that extends over the front and rear seats. During nighttime, the panoramic glass roof can be illuminated with LED lamps.
Powering the ASX will be the carried over 4B11 2.0-liter MIVEC engine that produces 150 PS at 6000rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 42000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed Sportronic CVT that has been enhanced to provide better fuel economy and acceleration. Paddle shifters are mounted on the steering column if the driver opts to change gears themselves.
In safety, the ASX has 2 front dual SRS airbags and has the company’s proprietary Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (R.I.S.E.) body that assures safety during an accident or crash.
The SRP of the 2015 ASX GSR model is at PHP 1, 248,000 while the GLS model is priced PHP 1, 148,000. An introductory outright savings price of PHP 50,000 is also being offered for the new ASX, which cuts down the price to PHP 1, 198,000 for the GSR and PHP 1, 098,000 for the GLS.
