Possible rebadge, will compete in the B-segment market
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and Chrysler de Mexico (CdM) announced a five-year agreement in which MMC will supply its global compact sedan to CdM.
"This new contract reaffirms the strong relationship that Chrysler de Mexico has built with Mitsubishi Motors Corporation since 2003 when we began distributing Mitsubishi vehicles in our country, which have garnered great acceptance in the Mexican market," said Bruno Cattori, President and CEO of Chrysler de Mexico.
The Mitsubishi Mirage sedan is designated as the Japanese automaker's global compact sedan. The new partnership between the two automakers signifies a rekindling of old ties wherein they shared similar models in the form of the Dodge/Plymouth Colt with the Mitsubishi Mirage from 1971 until 1994.
The global compact sedan model is sold as the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 Sedan in the Philippines and Attrage in other markets.
The new B-segment model will be sold in Mexico starting November 2014 and will compete in the highly competitive segment which represents 23% in the Mexican market.
