Former Alfa Romeo, VW designer Alessandro Dambrosio to join Mitsubishi Motors

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced that vehicle designer Alessando Dambrosio will be joining MMC as the new Executive Design Director of Advanced Design. Not to be confused with the Victoria's Secret model, Dambrosio will be leading teams at three design studios – Okazaki, Tokyo in Japan, and Frankfurt in Germany. He will be reporting directly to Tsunehiro Kunimoto, Corporate Vice President of Design Devision once he officially joins Mitsubishi Motors in October.

"Alessandro is a very experienced and skilled designer with a long career at leading car companies. I look forward to him inspiring our teams to shape the next generation of Mitsubishi Design and contributing to rebuild and enhance the Mitsubishi Motors Brand as we aiming for global growth,” said Kunimoto.

Dambrosio started his career working for the Fiat-Chrysler Group, working for Lancia. Further on, he became the chief designer at Alfa Romeo; a position in which he held for eight years. Subsequently, he also became head of Maserati Design. Before making the shift to Mitsubishi Motors, he joined the Volkswagen Group as the head of Audi Concept Design Studio in Munich.

Dambrosio has been involved in the design of production cars like the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, Maserati Grancabrio, Bentley Bentayga, and Audi A5. He also helped designed concepts like the Alfa Romeo Kamal and Lamborghini Egoista.

"Alessandro is joining at an exciting time when we are working on concepts for the future of Mitsubishi Motors styling. With his passion and well-developed understanding of brand values, he will be an extremely valuable addition to our design team,” added Kunimoto.

With Alessandro Dambrosio soon to be on-board at Mitsubishi Motors, expect new designs to come out in the brand's upcoming and future models.
