In an effort to give the Mitsubishi Strada a visual boost, the Japanese automaker has launched the limited-run Barbarian edition. In the meantime, this look is for the British market as the Triton Barbarian but it is possible that this appearance package may eventually make its way worldwide.

Essentially, the Triton Barbarian edition adds a more aggressive, off-road ready kit to the pickup. At the front, the slatted grill makes way for one that comes as a two-bar piece. Orange trim elements are then seen at the bottom section of the headlights, as well as the aforementioned grill. More orange trimmings are on the foglight surrounds.

Giving the Triton Barbarian a beefier look is a set of bolt-on overfenders. It is then rides on uniquely designed six-spoke alloy wheels finished in matte gunmetal with orange edges. Also, the standard road-oriented tires are replaced by BF Goodrich all-terrain rubber. Even the roof gets an upgrade with the addition of roof rails, painted orange in this case. At the rear, the tail lights also gets orange trim pieces and a tubular bar just below the bumper. Lastly, the bed comes equipped with a rollbar and a rolling cover.

Inside, it's the seats that get the special treatment. Just like the exterior, orange highlights are seen throughout the cabin. The seats, which are trimmed in leather, get a unique pattern as well. Mitsubishi has also given the Triton Barbarian ambient lighting which emits an orange glow. As for the rest of the interior, it is largely carried over the standard Strada/Triton pickups.

Motivation comes courtesy of the familiar 4N15 turbo-diesel engine. The 2.4-liter MIVEC diesel unit doles out the same 181 PS and 430 Nm figure from the standard Strada and Triton. Exclusive only as a four-wheel drive model, it packs Mitsubishi's Super Select II system. Transmission choices are either six-speed manual or five-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
