Japanese Government to donate a total of 87 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently handed over 40 new Montero Sport SUVs to the Philippine National Police (PNP). The vehicles were donated by the Japanese government as part of Japan's Grant Aid for the Philippines’ Economic and Social Development Programme.
The turnover ceremony was held at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame. Present during the ceremony were Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda, MMPC president and CEO Matsuhiro Oshikiri, and PNP Chief Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.
“As one of the leading car manufacturers in the country, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation is committed to contributing to the Philippines’ socioeconomic development at the same time as promoting public safety. We are delighted that our Mitsubishi Montero Sport has been chosen for this important project. We are confident that it will deliver superior driving performance, safety and durability to match the demands of Philippines law enforcement,” said Haneda.
Under Japan's grant aid program for the Philippines, a total of 87 units will be distributed to various units of the PNP nationwide. The remaining 47 units will be delivered towards the end of December 2017. So far, the first batch of vehicles have already been used as patrol vehicles during the ASEAN Summit held last November.
The Philippines’ Economic and Social Development Programme aims to contribute to safety and socioeconomic development, through the provision of local and public counterterrorism and safety-related equipment in the country.
