Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has just announced that the Montero Sport GT will be getting some upgrades.
The Mitsubishi Montero Sport GT will now come equipped with two key features: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and the Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS).
Adaptive Cruise Control is an upgrade on the existing cruise control system in the Montero Sport GT. The improved functionality comes in the form of radar sensors that -with cruise control engaged- detect vehicles in front, and then automatically adjusts the Montero Sport's speed to maintain a safe and secure distance. The driver can preset his/her comfortable safe following distance on the steering wheel.
The Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System is Mitsubishi's complex safety system intended to prevent or mitigate collisions in low-speed situations with obstacles (i.e. parking lots). The system achieves this by detecting when the driver accidentally steps on the wrong pedal or other, unnatural acceleration maneuvers via ultrasonic sensors. When it does, the Montero Sport will automatically limit the power from the engine.
The Montero Sport GT 4WD is already the top-of-the-line variant of the model range, and comes with a long list of safety and convenience features. Seven airbags, the Mitsubish Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC), Hill Start Assist, a Blind Spot Warning (BSW) system, a Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) system, a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, steering audio controls, power adjustable seats and many more are all standard on the GT.
The Montero Sport GT is also powered by the 4N15 common-rail turbo diesel engine, displacing 2.4-liters. With variable valve timing, the Montero Sport gets 181 PS at 3500 rpm and 430 Newton meters of torque at 2500 rpm. Standard on the Montero Sport GT is a four-wheel drive system as well as an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
