Mitsubishi Motor Corporation is recalling more than 830,000 vehicles globally to fix defective engine and brake parts.
According to the company's spokesman, Mitsubishi is recalling 191,596 vehicles in Japan and around 645,000 in the United States, Europe and other overseas markets. The affected vehicles includes the Delica minivan, RVR, Outlander, Galant and Lancer Evolution models manufactured between October 2005 to 2011.
The defect supposedly points to a faulty sleeve component in the brake booster assembly. The spokesman added that there have no reports of injuries related to the recall.
Subsequently, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corp. is also recalling 56,014 vehicles in Japan which comprises of the Fuso Canter truck and Fuso Rosa bus. The recall is issued to fix defective oil cooler hoses in the automatic transmissions and fuel pumps.
We are still confirming with Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation if any (or how many) local models are affected. Of the cars in their recall list, the Outlander, RVR (locally known as the ASX), the Galant and Lancer Evolution IX and X models were sold in the Philippines within the specified time period.
